CARSEL Foundation (Centre for Advanced Research in Socio-Emotional Learning) works at the forefront of an emerging education climate in India. CARSEL believes that social and emotional competence is the ability to understand, regulate, and express the social and emotional aspects of one’s life. This will enable the successful managing of life tasks. These life tasks include learning, forming relationships, understanding, analysing and solving everyday problems, and adapting to the complex demands of growth and development.
CARSEL is also engaged in unearthing the socio-emotional, psychological, interpersonal and behavioural causes that creates and builds the adverse emotions in children. This also involves observation of the ways and means employed by children in dealing with these socio-emotional dilemmas. The immediate goal is to make these thinking and learning routines visible to teachers, parents and the community in order to garner their support in understanding children better.
